The "Surgical" engine does not simply cut expensive cards. It uses a Safety-First Heuristic Algorithm to ensure key strategies are preserved while trimming "dead weight."
The engine scans Oracle text for phrases like "Win the game", "Extra turn", and infinite combo enablers. These cards are granted immunity from cuts, regardless of CMC.
The algorithm assumes that if you included a card worth >$10.00, it is likely crucial. High-value cards receive a score reduction in the "Cut Candidate" calculation.
